Previous Pregnancy Problems with Footsteps To Fertility Centre

If you have ever been pregnant in the past, this is a good indication that you will be able to conceive in the future – even if that pregnancy wasn’t carried to term.

There is no evidence that a previous termination of pregnancy, unless there were complications, will compromise your fertility potential.

However, if you have conceived naturally in the past, there is no guarantee that it will happen as easily in your current relationship.

At Footsteps To Fertility Centre, we are honored to have helped thousands of couples and single mothers receive the gift of parenthood and being given the opportunity to guide them through their difficult period of infertility.

Feel free to contact us or chat with us. We are here to offer answers, provide guidance, and deliver the best medical care available.

Advanced Fertility Care

There are a few factors that will affect your ability to conceive again after a previous pregnancy:

  • If you have a different partner,

  • Your age, and your partner’s age.

Unexplained secondary fertility can occur, whether you are still with the same partner or with someone new.

Partnering With You

Conceiving After Termination

Having a termination will not affect your chances of having a baby in the future, if there were no complications with the procedure.

Problems, such as injury to the uterus or cervix or serious infection as a result of the termination are extremely unlikely.

If you are now ready to have a child, it is a good sign that you were able to conceive in the past.

How long it takes to conceive is largely down to:

  • having sex regularly and at the right time in your cycle

  • your age and lifestyle

  • not letting stress affect your cycle

  • health conditions such as tubal blockages, PCOS and endometriosis

  • your partner’s reproductive health.

If your womb has been damaged during an abortion, your gynaecologist will be able to assess any damage with a procedure called a hysteroscopy. This is where a small camera is pushed up through your cervix to see what damage there is and how it can be repaired.
